Water Weight-loss vs. Body Fat Loss

You hear people talk about these fad diets and sometimes, people mention how they lost a so much weight in the first couple weeks. There is one problem, most people don't understand what type of weight loss these people are actually experiencing. It isn't muscle or fat that they are losing, its usually water weight. If your only looking at the number on the scale, you only seeing a small portion of the big picture. You can "lose" 5 pounds or more of weight in 2 weeks, but a majority of it is nothing more than water.

So before you run off to try the latest and greatest restrictive fad diet, consider what is being restricted, is it sustainable long term, and what are the negative points to it. Consider talking to a nutritionist or registered dietitian about it before you jump in feet first.
